abstract = {In this letter, a secure delivery scheme that exploits fountain codes is analyzed. For fountain-coded transmission, the receivers have to obtain a sufficient number of fountain packets to recover the original data. Secure delivery can be achieved if the legitimate user receives enough fountain packets first. For this purpose, we utilize the independent channel fading of different users to ensure a higher packet reception rate at the destination. The channel fading is competent if the destination is known to have a better average channel condition than that of the eavesdropper; otherwise, transmit power control relative to the destination channel is employed. Numerical results show that the intercept probability is reduced to zero exponentially as the number of source packets increases. Moreover, due to the ordinary fountain-coded transmission, the achievable data rate of the delivery depends only on the source-destination channel capacity rather than the system secrecy capacity.},

abstract = {様々なセンサが搭載されたスマートフォンの普及に伴って,参加型環境センシングの実現が期待されている.参加型環境センシングでは,一般のユーザがスマートフォンをもち歩く中でセンシングを行うため,従来のセンサネットワークと比べて,低コストで広範囲の環境情報を取得できる.しかしながら,スマートフォンは一般のユーザの生活に関するセンサ情報も同時に取得してしまうため,プライバシーの問題が,参加型環境センシングの活用のためには極めて大きな課題となっている.本論文では,参加型環境センシングを想定し,位置情報だけでなく,環境情報に含まれるプライバシー情報を保護するSelective Negative Surveysを提案する.Selective Negative Surveysでは,個々の携帯端末でセンサデータをカテゴリーデータとして,プライバシー保護処理を施す.このプライバシー保護処理済データを中央サーバへ伝送し,サーバ側では集計・再構築処理を行う.この処理により,ユーザのプライバシー情報を取得することなく,統計情報を取得することが可能となる.我々は,参加型環境センシングで取得する位置情報と環境情報を想定したシミュレーションを行い,本手法を統計情報の信頼性とプライバシー情報保護の観点から評価を行う.},

abstract = {In this paper, the user cooperation behaviors under eavesdropping attack are analyzed through game theory. Considering the physical layer security, we prove that the conventional cooperation scheme actually deteriorates the secrecy performance compared to the direct transmission, given that the eavesdropper has a better channel condition to the users than the destination. In this case, the necessary condition of the cooperation that the users should obtain additional utilities from the cooperation is not satisfied, which makes the users have no incentive to participate in the cooperation game. In order to motivate users, an adaptive cooperation scheme is designed to improve the secrecy performance even if the eavesdropping channel is superior to the destination's channel, and it is also observed that the mutual cooperation is one of the Nash equilibriums. We further exploit the Stackelberg game with a punishment mechanism to make the mutual cooperation as the unique Nash equilibrium.},

abstract = {Community sensing is an emerging paradigm that enables the increasing number of mobile device users to share the minute statistics collected by themselves. In particular, this system is expected to be used for medical and public health research studies, as these mobile devices are in close proximity of the users almost at all times. However, since the mobile devices collect users' sensitive information, a number of privacy concerns will hinder the spread of community sensing applications for medical research. Therefore, we require an environment that enables general users to join community mobile sensing. A widely known technique for preserving privacy in mobile sensing is data perturbation, which adds noises on the user side and allows the central server to reconstruct the statistics of the original data. In this paper, we review a critical vulnerability of state-of-the-art perturbation schemes in which a malicious attacker may restore users' sensitive information from the perturbed data through long-term monitoring attacks. To overcome such vulnerability, we propose privacy-preserving community sensing with multidimensional randomized response, in which all sensed data are processed twice. Using our scheme, we are able to collect users' medical information with security. We evaluate how our scheme can preserve privacy while maintaining the data integrity of aggregated information.},

abstract = {Pedestrian dead reckoning plays an important role in indoor pedestrian localization applications. Although this approach has a notable advantage that no extra infrastructure is required, it also suffers an issue known as the drift, which means the estimation errors accumulate and ultimately may make the result unreliable. In this paper, we propose a circular inference method applying online learning in order to reduce such drift errors. Map information is used as prior knowledge and identified land marks are used as triggers for learning processing. A multidimensional optimization algorithm is designed and used in learning phase to efficiently tune the estimation parameters. On the basis of the design we implement an end system running on smartphones and use it in the evaluation experiments. The results show that the proposed method can effectively improve the accuracy and reliability of the localization system.},

abstract = {Environments significantly influence the sensation of pedestrians, while sensing and navigation technologies can help people improve their trip comfort. In this paper, we present an integrated framework, named NaviComf, which constructs pedestrian navigation systems to improve comfort in time varying environments taking into account the heterogeneous environmental factors. With NaviComf we aim to systematically provide solutions to the four key issues: (1) how to organize the huge amount of sensor data, (2) how to forecast future environmental information, (3) how to incorporate the heterogeneous environmental factors, and (4) how to select optimal paths in time varying environments. We have gathered sensor data of air temperature, relative humidity, and pedestrian congestion in real environments. We have also implemented a prototype system on the basis of the framework using the sensor data. Results of simulations and evaluations show that NaviComf can efficiently provide more comfortable paths as compared with the traditional navigation method.},

abstract = {Pervasive smartphones that embed a variety of sensors enable us to sense and learn about the physical environment around us, even the society we live in. However, the sheer volume of data collected through participatory sensing can deeply hamper the performance of various applications (e.g., data processing time and transmitting cost). In this paper, we proposed a method to reduce the volume of sensor data while preserving the information content of the original data. Our proposed method REPresentative Sense (REPSense) borrows the idea from electoral system. Hence, after data reduction, output data (target) can represent the original data (source) as parliament members are elected to delegate their constituencies. This method can compress multi-dimensional data with arbitrary distribution. We evaluated our method using real-world datasets collected by 12 users over a period of 4 months. The results show that our method outperforms state-of-the-art by comparing baseline methods in terms of data divergence and data processing performance.},

abstract = {Popular real-time public events often cause upsurge of traffic in Twitter while the event is taking place. These posts range from real-time update of the event's occurrences highlights of important moments thus far, personal comments and so on. A large user group has evolved who seeks these live updates to get a brief summary of the important moments of the event so far. However, major social search engines including Twitter still present the tweets satisfying the Boolean query in reverse chronological order, resulting in thousands of low quality matches agglomerated in a prosaic manner. To get an overview of the happenings of the event, a user is forced to read scores of uninformative tweets causing frustration. In this paper, we propose a method for multi-tweet summarization of an event. It allows the search users to quickly get an overview about the important moments of the event. We have proposed a graph-based retrieval algorithm that identifies tweets with popular discussion points among the set of tweets returned by Twitter search engine in response to a query comprising the event related keywords. To ensure maximum coverage of topical diversity, we perform topical clustering of the tweets before applying the retrieval algorithm. Evaluation performed by summarizing the important moments of a real-world event revealed that the proposed method could summarize the proceeding of different segments of the event with up to 81.6% precision and up to 80% recall.},

This system relies on participants' active contribution including intentional input data through mobile phone's applications, e.g. Facebook, Twitter and Linkdin. However, a number of privacy concerns will hinder the spread of community sensing applications. It is difficult for resource-constrained mobile phones to rely on complicated encryption scheme. We should prepare a privacy-preserving community sensing scheme with less computational-complexity. Moreover, an environment that is reassuring for participants to conduct community sensing is strongly required because the quality of the statistical data is depending on general users' active contribution. In this article, we suggest a privacy-preserving community sensing scheme for human-centric data such as profile information by using the combination of negative surveys and randomized response techniques. By using our method described in this paper, the server can reconstruct the probability distributions of the original distributions of sensed values without violating the privacy of users. Especially, we can protect sensitive information from malicious tracking attacks. We evaluated how this scheme can preserve the privacy while keeping the integrity of aggregated information.},

abstract = {近年,スマートフォンやタブレット等の小型のモバイル機器が普及している.これらは多くの人が肌身離さず持ち歩き,仕事や生活の必需品となっている.そのため,良好な無線環境の発展とも相まり,ユーザの位置情報は様々なアプリケーションに役立ち,従来の応用やサービスに対して新たな付加価値を創造する可能性がある.一方,特定の時刻におけるユーザの正確な位置情報の漏洩は,ストーカーや犯罪に巻き込まれる等の危険性もあり,その取り扱い方次第ではプライバシーを侵害する恐れが生じる.この問題を解決するために,本稿ではユーザの地理的分布推計への適用を想定し,プライバシー保護手法の提案と評価を行う.その結果,先行研究と比較して,位置データに対するプライバシーレベルを持続させたまま,データの正確性の精度を向上できることを示す.また,アプリケーションへの汎用性やユーザのモビリティの観点から今後の展望を述べる.
Recently, devices such as mobile phones and tablets are widespread. Therefore, location-based applications are gathering attentions of people. On the other hand, using location information obtained by the mobile device is likely to violate the privacy of the user. In order to solve this problem, we propose and implement a privacy preserving method which is applied to applications of user's geographical distribution. Compared to previous researches, our approach improved the accuracy of location data while keeping the privacy level. In addition, we discuss our future works in terms of general versatility and user mobility.},
